Keilly is a children’s author and editor who has worked in publishing for more than 18 years. She is currently Managing Editor at First News, the UK’s only national newspaper for young people, which has won several awards. First News aims to educate and inform young people, explaining big news stories in a non-sensational and easily understandable way. Now in its eleventh year, it has more readers than most of the ‘grown-up’ newspapers put together!

Both with work and in her own writing, Keilly loves the challenge of breaking down a complex topic to make it accessible and engaging for children. Her first picture book, The Tigon and the Liger, explores the themes of acceptance and the celebration of difference. She is also the author of How To Make A Better World, and most recently Life Skills which encourages children to be the best they can be, both published by DK.

Keilly previously worked on educational and factual magazines at publishers including the BBC, Eaglemoss and Egmont where she was involved in launching, writing and editing many successful titles, such as Dorling Kindersley Find Out, The Magical World of Roald Dahl, The Magic Key and Learning is Fun.

Keilly has spent many years living abroad experiencing different cultures and ways of life (and having adventures!). Now living in London and mum to a baby girl, Keilly believes more passionately than ever in the importance of encouraging young people’s natural enthusiasm and wonder at the world around them.
